8 Random Things-Yes I did it
I’ve been tagged for the 8 Random Things meme by my new cyber gurlfriend, Liz Ditz, who mentioned that I was homeschooling three kids. No, Liz, it’s FIVE, so you can really get an understanding about my random thoughts…Liz was sent to Dahgurl by DH. Since you’re new, I am going to do something I rarely do…complete the meme.
There are rules, you know:
1. Let others know who tagged you.
2. Players start with 8 random facts about themselves.
3. Those who are tagged should post these rules and their 8 random facts.
4. Players should tag 8 other people and notify them they have been tagged.
Here are my 8 Random Thoughts (or comments/rants/pissy moments…some sorta deep maybe):
- I take personal offense to people who are perpetually late. I see it as a sign of disrespect, disregard, self-centeredness and overall, irresponsible.
- If I didn’t become a wife and then mother when I did, I would have been a NY-based fiction and screenplay writer, who danced for Alvin Ailey on the side (well, they probably wouldn’t have taken me, but I would have been a helluva back-up dancer).
- I love eating fresh fruit and vegetables, don’t like much juice or soda (filtered water is all I drink for the most part and soy milk with my sweets), but have no problem eating raw chocolate chip cookie dough (correction: Pillsbury Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough).
- I had enough credits in undergrad to major in Math. Spanish and English. I was intending to teach all three, but my father had open heart surgery and I didn’t want to use our family’s resources to pay for another semester to complete the teaching requirements for all three. Settled on English.
- I don’t consider myself vain, but I do wonder if my stomach is ever going to go back to being the six pack it once was, so instead of working out to shrink and tone, I just put on a body slimmer/girdle. I wish more people would do that.
- I am very competitive, but like Micheal Jordan, not with other people, but with myself. I always want to be better and I am very unforgiving of myself when I didn’t do my very best.
- When I was about 6 and traveling with my grandparents to their hometown of Belden, MS, I hardheadedly opened the back door. I started to scream as a chicken with its head cut off ran through the house. I’m surprised that I eat chicken today.
- I was the tallest person in my fifth grade class (even taller than the teacher) and I loved football, so the boys called me Too Tall Jones (80’s pro football player).
O.K., You’re It!-I don’t normally do this, so you all bare with me. Just for kicks…don’t get mad.
- The Fashionista -I can only imagine what you have to share.
- Ebony Mom- You know I could do any of this without you.
- Dr. Lester Spence-You are definitely on the least likely to respond list, but I wanted you to try it…it would be great for your readers.
- Daddy Daze-You may not see me every week, but still love and appreciate your support.
- Damomma-Ditto for you, damomma. You’re not forgotten. Hopefully I haven’t been either.
- Inherent Passion- You’ve hit me up with memes so many times and I didn’t do them. Could you forgive and do this one?
- Chronicles of Mommyhood- Just like Inherent Passion and Ebony Mom, you are vintage, one of the originals. Much appreciate your support.
- Why are Black Women Angry - I figured you would love this…I know you have a lot of great random thoughts.
I too wanted to be a dancer and travel the country, but my grandmother thought it was a waste to study dance. Ditto on the stomach and wearing a girdle. People think I look for a woman with three kids, but little do they know. Loved reading this post.
I’ll be traveling east more in 2007 & 2008, as darling daughter will be in college in MA. I hope to have a Ditz-Spence family meeting at some point. I’ll let you know the travel schedule.
You wrote about eating “raw chocolate chip cookie dough”
In my family, we call those “sushi cookies”, and consider them superior to the baked kind.

Oh my goodness I am sooo late on the tag! Sorry! I’ll get to it.
Well, 1 1/2 months later isn’t bad for figuring out that you tagged me.
So I suppose listing “very sporadic blogger” as one of my 8 things huh? Hope you are well honey. I’m thinking about you!
[...] favorite gurl, Dahgurl, tagged me for this meme back in July. Since I am a very bad blogger, I just now found out about [...]
